PAPILLION
(for Deena Muzzi)
I sometimes wish
I could for a day
Be a butterfly .....
A splash of colour,
A wave of joy,
For the lives I touch.....
To wipe a tear,
Heal a wound,
Reach out and caress
Hearts lonely and careworn.....
I sometimes wish
I could for a day
Be a butterfly -
Just a willow-the - wisp papillion
Eternal in Transcience.

Ohhhhh I love it Shobha! Its perfect!... You are such an 'all-seeing soul'!
It's beautiful and you are beautiful - (had a few tears of my own today) so the timing and heartfelt 'thought', the connectedness, upon reading this poem couldn't have come at more opportune time!
Striking comment and description of your lovely poem too, from Renee...
"impermanence of life and I want to hold on that much tighter and really experience it...."... very very apt.
Thank you for brightening my day!
Deena's another talented voxer who is a great photographer....
I like your fourth stanza, which is perfect. It might be neat to write about what a butterfly senses and how that transformation would be freeing for you. The butterfly is a symbol of transcendence in many cultures. There are wonderful Amazonian tribal myths of people morphing into morpho butterflies. There is also Psyche (Soul) in Greek mythology.
I dream I'm flying a lot over mountains. I also love hummingbirds and they always like butterlies put me in a really good mood. and make me feel blessed.
Flight and our inablility to fly away has forevor captured our collective soul, despite the age of spacecraft.
